The Sanctuary model says that in order to understand someone, instead of asking what is wrong with them we need to ask what happened to them. I look forward to talking with and meeting you to help you achieve your goals!Įverything I do as a counselor is based on the Sanctuary model, because people cannot grow unless they feel safe. I invite you to reach out to schedule a session by contacting our office to see if we would be a good therapeutic fit. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with and advocating for people going through the legal system, including people facing domestic violence charges. I am certified in Thinking for a Change (T4C) and Aggression Replacement Training (ART). I specialize in anger and anxiety management across the life span, especially with teens and adults. My purpose is to help you maximize the opportunities in your life to achieve your goals through empathy and a strength-based focus. Additionally, I enjoy looking at the systemic factors in a person's life, including family dynamics, relationships at work or school, and even interactions with friends or partners. My style is collaborative, client-driven, and forward-focused. I look forward to meeting you and being a part of your journey ahead.Īs a therapist, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other strategies to help clients explore the interactions between their thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors.
In other words, I am ready to help you explore any issues which may involve your gender identity and/or sexuality with validation and nonjudgmental care. I work to continually acknowledge and appreciate our cultural differences throughout the therapeutic relationship. Part of creating that safe space involves explicitly welcoming all individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, and/or sexual orientation.
I work to create a safe and empathic place for us to explore what may be getting in the way of you seeing your full potential. As a counselor, I am here to help untangle the parts of your life which may feel cluttered or distressing. As a client, you are the expert of your life and your experiences. In therapy, we focus on what is distressing you in the present, to help you move forward in the future. New chapters in life provide opportunities for reflection on our own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You may be facing a new path in life that feels daunting or unmanageable, and I can provide guidance amid such a transition. I will use person-centered therapy, CBT, DBT, family systems theory, behavioral interventions, and experiential therapy to help clients achieve their goals. My style of counseling is eclectic and tailored to fit the needs of the client. I also have a great deal of experience working with individuals with neurodivergent needs and thought disorders. I have many years of experience working with children and families using a family systems approach. It is my hope that through our counseling sessions, you will feel safe to grow, develop new skills, and be a more authentic you.
We will then begin exploring any issues that are interfering with your daily life. Initially I will get to know you and what brings you to therapy. I strive to create a warm, relaxed, environment where clients can share whatever is on their minds, and we can address each concern one by one. If you are experiencing stress with everyday life, struggling with identity development, interested in parenting support, or simply need someone to be a sounding board, I would be a great fit.
